Professional background
Dr Sem Liew graduated from University of Melbourne (St Vincent's Clinical School) and then completed his advanced training in oncology at Austin and Monash Hospitals.
Dr Sem Liew is a medical oncologist with special interests in lung, breast, gastrointestinal, brain and genitourinary cancers. He previously held the prestigious NHMRC postgraduate scholarship in lung cancer research. He has established a close working relationship with the breast surgeons at South-eastern Melbourne. He has seen and treated approximately 80-100 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients every year.
He is a member in Brightways Breast Cancer Services at Cabrini Health. Besides his clinical interests in lung and breast cancers, Sem also has his passion in urological and gastrointestinal cancers treatments.
He attends urology and gastrointestinal multidisciplinary meetings at both Epworth Health and St John of God Berwick Hospital. He is an invited member to Jreissati Family Pancreatic Centre at Epworth.
Sem was the lead medical oncologist in the Brain Tumour Clinic while he was a VMO oncology at Monash.
