Professional background
Dr David Chieng is a board certified cardiologist accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He specializes in the management of heart rhythm disturbances, including cardiac arrhythmia ablation (SVT, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia) and cardiac device implantation (pacemaker, defibrillator, cardiac resynchronization therapy).
Dr Chieng also manages other cardiovascular conditions including coronary artery disease, and congestive cardiac failure. He completed his cardiology training in Perth, followed by a 4 year clinical fellowship in electrophysiology and pacing at the Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He completed his PhD with the support of the prestigious combined NHMRC/NHF/Bright Sparks postgraduate research scholarships, and has been awarded 17 prestigious young investigator awards thus far for his achievements in research.
Dr Chieng has been recognized for his outstanding patient care by being awarded the RPH Intern of the Year Award (2011) and St John of God Hospital Pomegranate Award (2015).
