Fees and Accounts

We accept patients with insurance from most private health funds, uninsured self-funded patients, Department of Veterans' Affairs recipients, or patients with approved Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) and Workers Compensation entitlements.

Private Health Insurance

South Eastern Private Hospital has contracts with the majority of private health insurance funds. Before admission, we will verify your fund details.

If your private health insurance does not fully cover your stay, we will let you know your estimated out-of-pocket expenses. You will need to pay this before admission.

You are not required to pay the portion of your account covered by your private health fund. We will claim those benefits on your behalf. As part of our policy on informed financial consent, we will give you an estimate of your expenses and a form to sign.

Uninsured Self-Funded Patients

If you an uninsured, self-funded patient, you will need to pay a deposit based on an estimated length of stay of at least one week in advance. We will give you more information about this as part of the admission process.

Department of Veterans' Affairs Patients

South Eastern Private Hospital is a Tier 1 provider for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

DVA patients will have their account sent directly to the DVA for payment. DVA patients are responsible for calls made to mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers. Local calls are free.

See DVA Admissions for information about services at South Eastern Private Hospital for DVA patients.

Veterans’ Accounts and Entitlements

If you are an eligible veteran or war widow, you will not receive an account for personal expenses for treatment at South Eastern Private Hospital.

For pharmacy and personal items you have purchased, not related to your admission diagnosis, you will receive an account.

DVA Accommodation

DVA patients will have a shared room as part of our agreement. You will share a room with a person of the same gender.

Transport to and from Hospital

Some DVA patients are eligible to have transport arranged for them. Contact DVA.

Patients can pre-arrange transport vouchers with their doctor or health professional before admission to cover their return journey.

More Information for DVA Patients

If you are a DVA patient, you must have your admission approved before admission. The DVA will receive your account to pay us directly.

For more information about DVA admission, contact the DVA on 133 254 or your local Veterans’ Affairs office on 1800 838 372. Visit DVA.

Workers Compensation

Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Workers Compensation patients need to make arrangements to have their claim approved prior to admission. You must have your claim approved before admission and your insurer will receive your account to pay us directly.

Other Charges

  • Anaesthesia
  • Pathology
  • Radiology
  • Pharmacy
  • Telephone calls to mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers
